The Barefoot Festival is an intimate, family friendly gathering focusing on the celebration of dance, music, art and culture, set in the cultural heart of the country, middle England, in the beautiful Leicestershire countryside.
With something for everyone, we have a bursting program of entertainment planned this year - from Belly Dance to Capoeira, Samba to Can Can, Burlesque to Dancing with fire, Flamenco to Morris Dancing, Charleston to Tango!!!
But it doesn’t stop there, oh no - we’re just getting started!
On Friday night we will be holding a Ceilidh Barn Dance with local folk band Bang on The Wall. If that doesn’t get you warmed up you’re sure to be enchanted with dancing and drumming around the camp fire and freestyle fire performance!
One of the main objectives of the festival is to help artists spread the word and share their passion. We have an “art gallery” where people can display their work, artists and musicians can perform on our open stage that runs throughout the weekend and we love to have street performers or anyone who has a talent they want to showcase!! Please get in touch with examples of your work or videos of your performance.
The festival grows organically mainly through word of mouth and recommendation. Each year and we aim to improve so it just keeps getting better and better. We welcome your feedback and listen to what you want and try our hardest to grant your wishes!!! This means better workshops, more music, improved facilities more entertainment, more kids stuff and if you can imagine it, more fun! Each year people return to the Barefoot Festival, rekindling friendships and forming new ones! It’s a fantastic opportunity to kick your shoes off and be “you” for the weekend – sometimes even discover a side of yourself you never knew existed!!
The whole weekend costs just £49 when you book before March 31st (£69 afterwards) - that includes your camping, entrance to workshops, parking and all entertainment – you’ll be pushed to find such value for money anywhere!!
The camp is run mostly through volunteers and any profits are ploughed back into improvements and raising the standard each camp. The camp is produced through the love of movement, music and art and the desire to encourage people to explore and discover new things through these mediums. Anything goes!
We are always looking for extra help, support and ideas so if you think you may be able to contribute in any way please get in touch. Contact us on 0116 2304 904 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
Over the weekend we are running a variety of free workshops for adults and children – dance and music, arts and crafts. We have on site therapists to help you chill out with massage or holistic treatments in the tipi and tranquility area !!! Saturday night is party night!!
The workshop leaders, teaching over the weekend have put together a fabulous evening for you, showcasing their talents! You can look forward to an eclectic, tantalizing cabaret of dance, music and mayhem including a Capoeira Demonstration, Belly Dance and Burlesque, Can Can, Samba - to mention but a few! Then let us blow you mind with a beautiful and mesmerising display of Fire!!!!! Spend the rest of the evening drumming dancing, poi spinning, singing and chilling around the camp fire! Ahhhh bliss!
We have a fantastic outdoor Fairy Market running throughout the weekend, selling wonderful, unusual artifacts and crafts from around the world, beautiful clothing, jewellery, dance equipment, information stalls, a henna artist, face painters, and holistic therapists and hopefully some excellent local food produce. We have some wonderful caterers selling a globaltastic range of delicious delights, beautiful hot chai, cake, coffee and chocolate in the Barefoot Cafe!
